ACCESSIBILITY

HELPING YOU GET THE MOST FROM YOUR VISIT

We want everyone to have the best visit possible but this is an old and complicated building so it’s not as accessible to everyone as we’d like. Please tell us if there’s anything we can do to help.

Mobility: The upstairs rooms and the 1646 experience aren’t accessible. This is because we can’t evacuate you safely and quickly enough if there’s a fire. We have a folder with a mini-tour for you so that you can get a sense of the other rooms and chairs to sit on if you need a rest.

Vision: The 1646 Big Bang is fairly dark and may not be suitable for people with limited vision. There are some narrow, steep stairs and uneven floors. All our interpretation is in large fonts.

Hearing: There are sound effects in use in some rooms. If these cause you any problem please let us know and we’ll happily turn them down or off.

Sensory or non-visible conditions: If you have any specific access needs (for example Autism or Dementia) we’d love to help you enjoy your visit. Just tell us how we can help.
